Factory Layout
For the manufacturing of moisture crosslinkable heat-shrinkable tubing, following basic equipment is required:

Proposal 1 :
Equipment for a thin wall polyolefin heat-shrinkable tubing factory, based on the moisture crosslinking technology.
Proposal 2 :
Equipment for a medium and thick wall heat-shrinkable tubing factory, based on moisture crosslinking technology.
Proposal 3 :
Equipment for a combined thin wall, medium wall and thick wall heat-shrinkable tubing factory, based on the moisture crosslinking technology.
Proposal 1
Equipment for a thin-wall polyolefin heat-shrinkable tubing factory , based on moisture crosslinking technology
Capacity : Approximately 10 million meters in 3 shifts (*)
Size range : 1.0 - 50.0 mm , expanded diameter
Typical products : To meet standards like UL 224, UL 224 VW-1 and MIL-DTL-23053/5.
(*) The factory capacity is only limited by the number of expansion lines. The extrusion equipment has a capacity of approximately 20 million meter. Adding 1 expansion line will increase the factory output by approximately 25%, without major investment.
Extrusion equipment:
1 complete 50 mm extrusion line, consisting of :
- 1 50 mm extruder
- 1 specially designed screw
- 1 extrusion-head and tooling
- 1 calibration- and cooling bath
- 1 take-off
- 1 double winder
- control cabinets
1 complete 30 mm extrusion line, consisting of :
- 1 30 mm extruder
- 1 specially designed screw
- 1 extrusion-head
- 1 calibration- and cooling bath
- 1 take-off

The 30 mm extruder can also be used as a co-extruder for the production of green-yellow striped and for adhesive lined dual-wall heat-shrinkable tubing.
Crosslinking equipment
2 moisture crosslinking systems, consisting of:
- a specially designed stainless steel container including thermal control, pressure control, water-level control and control cabinet.
1 conditioning system, consisting of:
- a specially designed container including thermal control, controlled air circulation and control cabinet.
Expansion equipment
4 Thin wall expansion lines, including:
- unwinder, take-offs , heating cabinet, calibration and cooling cabinet, double winder and control cabinet

Cutting equipment
1 Stand-alone cutting line, able to be used as a in-line cutting device in an expansion line.
Quality Control (QC) equipment
1 Basic set of QC laboratory equipment, including:
- computer driven tensile & elongation test facility, sizing pins,
- 4 air circulating ovens , dielectric-strength test device, mini crosslink system, flammability cabinet acc. to UL 224, restricted shrinkage mandrels, precision weighing balance, chemicals resistance & copper-mirror corrosion test facility, hot-set elongation test device, micro-meters, microscope and a full set of international specifications and test methods.
PTL will be able to assist you with the layout of the factory.
Proposal 2
Equipment for a medium and thick wall heat-shrinkable tubing factory based on moisture crosslinking technology
Capacity : Approximately 1.5 million meters in 3 shifts (*)
Size range : 10 - 120 mm , expanded diameter
Typical products : To meet standards like ESI 09-11, ESI 09-13 and VDE
(*) The factory capacity is only limited by the number of expansion lines. The extrusion equipment has a capacity of approximately 2,0 million meter medium and thick-wall tubing. Adding 1 expansion line will increase the factory output by approximately 25%, without major investment.

- 1 60 mm extruder
- 1 specially designed screw

The 30 mm extruder can be used as a co-extruder for the coating with a hot-melt adhesive of the medium and thick wall heat-shrinkable tubing.

- a specially designed stainless steel container including thermal control, pressure control, water-level control and control cabinet.
2 conditioning systems, consisting of:
- a specially designed container including thermal control, controlled air circulation and control cabinet.
Expansion equipment
3 Medium and thick wall expansion lines, including:
- unwinder, take-off , heating cabinet, calibration and cooling cabinet, double winder and control cabinet
The expansion lines are provided with a heavy duty pneumatic guillotine cutting line with automatic tipper.
Quality Control (QC) equipment
1 Basic set of QC laboratory equipment, including:

Proposal 3
Equipment for a combined factory to manufacture both thin wall polyolefin and medium and thick wall heat-shrinkable tubing,based on silane crosslinking technology
Capacity : Approximately 5.0 million meters thin wall polyolefin tubing and 1.0 million meter medium and thick wall tubing in 3 shifts (*)
Size range : 1.0 - 102 mm , expanded diameter thin wall polyolefin tubing 10 - 120 mm , expanded diameter medium and thick wall tubing

The 30 mm extruder can also be used as a co-extruder for the production of green-yellow striped and adhesive lined thin wall heat-shrinkable tubing and for the co-extrusion of hot-melt adhesive coated medium and thick wall heat-shrinkable tubing.
